Tourist map of Ikaruga
It is said that the name of the Ikaruga area comes from the name of a bird called "Ikaru".
①Horyuji i Center : This place provides information on Horyuji temple and Nara area. Open year round 8:30 am ~ 6:00 pm
②Horyuji Temple : In 1993, Horyuji Temple was registered as a World Heritage of UNESCO. The kondo (Main Hall) and the Five-Storied Pagoda are known as the oldest remaining examples of wooden architecture in the world.
③Horinji Temple : The original Three-storied Pagoda was struck by lightening and destroyed in 1944 and rebuilt in 1975.
④Hokiji Temple : The Three-storied Pagoda is said to have been completed in 706, and it is the oldest remaining three-storied pagoda.
⑤Chuguji Temple : The Miroku Bosatsu statue is a graceful image. This female Buddha is seen with her right finger softly touching her cheek. Tenjukoku Shucho is an embroidered picture of the heavens. This is the oldest embroidered article existing in Japan.
